Mullion Year 11 Sports Leaders ran a training session for primary pupils from the Mullion and Helston Sports Clusters. Schools in the clusters were invited to send their Gifted and Talented PE pupils to the school to gain a better understanding of fitness and the requirements of elite sports performance. The session started with a welcome from Mr Loder followed by a gruelling endurance test before the pupils were put through their paces over a series of tests. The pupils from Year 5&6 at Garras, Sithney, Mullion, Landewednack, Cury and Wendron were tested in their flexibility, agility, balance, speed, power and strength. The purpose of the session was education and to give the pupils a baseline score to try to improve on through training. This was the first in a series of events to develop these athletes’ knowledge and support them as they become more involved with physical activities. Thanks go to Miss Bunyan and her fabulous Year 11 GCSE PE Sports Leaders; the primary schools for sending the pupils and to Mrs Ayotte, Helston Cluster Sports Coordinator.
