For years Ted Heaton has given his time freely to coach rugby to pupils from both primary and secondary schools in the Mullion Cluster and now he has won a national Rugby Hero Award from the RFU. Ted is one of only 11 given the award nationally!
Ted was nominated by Mr Loder and Mrs Jane for the hours of work he has put into to developing rugby players at Mullion secondary and Landewednack primary schools. He continues to run tag rugby teams in the primary school as well as finding time to coach two teams in the secondary school and coaches every week at Helston RFC. It is fantastic that the hard work and effort he puts in for the benefit of our pupils has been recognised and rewarded on such a scale. Recently he has also started to encourage young coaches as part of their courses in school.
Next month Ted will receive VIP hospitality at the Schools Rugby Finals Day at Twickenham with a pitch side presentation of his prize and also tickets to an England international. Both schools are so thankful for the work he does in our schools and we know that pupils who have benefitted from his input will be pleased to see him rewarded. If you see him in school (or on his postal round) pass on your congratulations and thanks if he has ever coached you.
