College Transport information for Y11

Cornwall Council’s Post-16 Transport Policy 2015/2016 is now available on the Council’s website at www.cornwall.gov.uk/collegetransport.
As in previous years, the Council will provide subsidised transport to full-time students aged 16-19 (25 for students with special educational needs) attending their nearest establishment offering their chosen programme of learning and living more than three miles from that establishment. The cost of subsidised transport in 2015/16 is £396 per academic year, payable in whole or in termly instalments (£150, £150, £96).

Applications and payments can be made online now at www.cornwall.gov.uk/collegetransport.  Alternatively, paper applications can be downloaded from the website or request from the Pupil Transport Team on 0300 1234 101 or pupiltransport@cornwall.gov.uk.  The deadlines/timescales for applying are as follows:

  • Applications can be made at any time after the 31 May 2015. Parents are advised to apply as quickly as possible after this date.  Applications should be made by Friday 14 August 2015 in order for students to receive their pass or other travel arrangements by 01 September 2015.
  • Applications received between 15 August 2015 and 31 August 2015 will not be considered until all on-time applications have been processed. Transport for applications received during this time will not commence until Monday 21 September 2015. Students will be responsible for their own travel arrangements to and from school/college at their own expense in the meantime.
  • Applications received after 31 August 2015 will not be considered until all other applications have been processed. The Passenger Transport Unit will process these applications as quickly as possible but cannot guarantee a set transport start date. Students will be responsible for their own travel arrangements to and from school/college at their own expense in the meantime.

All students studying at Cornwall College should apply through the College in the first instance (www.cornwall.ac.uk) using their own application form as a discounted rate applies, funded by the College.

Students not eligible for the Cornwall Council subsidised scheme may be able to access transport schemes run by individual schools and colleges. Students should contact the establishment direct or visit www.cornwall.gov.uk/collegetransport for more details
