Events at Mullion School

A new year of Mullion Cluster Sports launched!

The second year of the rebranded Mullion Cluster Sports

project got underway last week. Pupils, staff and parents representing Mullion, Garras, Sithney, Landewdnack and Cury primary schools enjoyed pleasant weather and sporting competition as the first competition of the year was hosted by Mullion School and was reported to be a splendid success.  Some of the Cluster’s youngest pupils were invited to take part in a KS1 Multi-Skills challenge, including those who have only recently started in Reception Class, which tested their ability to throw, jump, balance and run.

The event started with a brief welcome from Mr Loder, Cluster Coordinator, followed by an enthusiastic group warm up.  Then Year 11 GCSE PE students took the lead having prepared the activities with the support of Mr Loder and then spent the whole afternoon leading their activities.  The event is one of three which have been calendared this year especially for the youngest pupils and looks to reward progress in their ability to perform fundamental skills.  The KS1 pupils were supported by a band of Year 8 Leaders who took charge of a group of athletes each, motivating them to achieve their best and have fun.

These events would not run without the support of a lot of people but mostly the enthusiastic and talented Mullion School pupils.  New Headteacher, Mr Randle was very proud of the work all the leaders and athletes did and looks forward to the next event.  The next event will be a hockey festival and we look forward to seeing some of the older pupils from Sithney, Garras, Mullion, Landewednack and Cury schools which make up the Mullion Cluster.

More information on the Cluster, it’s events and aims can be found on the member school websites or by contacting Mr Loder at Mullion School.
