This half term...

Welcome to the  English department webpage - keep an eye out here for recent work and events and our course programme for each yeargroup, as well as up-coming events.

Our book review page is now live. Send your reviews to Mrs Camidge (lc at the school address) - or just hand them to you English teacher.

Year Eleven  Final practice sessions this half term!

Year Ten  The next module - "writing about a media product" starts on April 19th. The coursework that you produce tests how well you can write to analyse, review and comment. It is worth 5% of your GCSE mark. The module will also help you to develop the reading and writing skills you need for exam paper 1 - first practice coming up next half term.

Year Nine  Formal assessment for the KS3 levels given at the end of the key stage will continue this term. It is important to do well in these assessments so that we give you the right target grade and put you in the right group for GCSE. You will also follow a course called "research, referencing and reliability" which should help you to use research materials independently in all aspects of your future work - across the curriculum for GCSE, at college after you leave, and outside school.

Year Eight  You will continue to develop your writing across a range of forms. You will continue to work on varied texts. By the end of the summer term, all classes will have completed work on poetry, prose, drama, a range of media texts including moving image texts, and school brochures and websites.

Year Seven You will continue your work on poetry, role-play, reading and writing non-fiction, and a novel. By the end of the summer term, all classes will  have completed work in each of these areas - and so by July Year Seven pupils should have a good idea of what English is going to involve over the next four years.
